About

The Untamed series of games has three other titles besides Wolf Pack, each one getting a different wild creature as a focus. Here, we’re looking at a wolf themed game, the images showing us these creatures, their habitat and even their prey. The series, which is offered by Microgaming, doesn’t demonstrate that much when it comes to graphics, but it has its good sides as well. Like the other slot machines of the slot series, Wolf Pack also has 243 ways to win, with the same 5x3 reels to offer them. The game promises to offer a prize of $11,250, though there is a chance to trigger even bigger ones. The slot gives you free spins with growing stacked wilds, scatter symbols, lucky nudges and regular wilds which are collectable and can turn entire reels.

Betting requirements

The betting requirements can be changed from the Bet option. You have 30 active lines, fixed so that they can cover all ways to win each spin, and on them you can spend between 30 and 450 coins. That would be a wager of 1 to 15 coins per line, which means at most $1.50 since the coin value doesn’t get past $0.10. The minimum coin denomination is $0.01, while the smallest allowed bet will be worth $0.30.

Theme & Design

Nature is the inspiration for Wolf Pack, as it is for the other games of this series. The image in the background gives us a view of mountains and of snow, with a few fir trees thrown in as well. It looks like an unforgiving land, the sort of place where you would still find packs of wolves these days. There are a couple of symbols which have this focus on the wolves, others showing us just the view or a couple of big herbivores. Though these parts are only average looking, the truly disappointing part comes from the poker cards. These are very simple letters or numbers, placed on top of stone like backgrounds. The entire series that Microgaming created here doesn’t do a particularly good job with its designs. The other Untamed slots are just as underwhelming as Wolf Pack.

Special Features

The features from Wolf Pack are similar to those available in the other slots, with some differences in the free spins. The base game will get wild or scatter symbols. The wilds are the ones that show us the logo of this slot, and they are often used as the substitutes, your way of forming combinations by combining these symbols with matching regular ones. The slot’s ways to win helps the wild and allows it to participate in these combinations much easier. You can even get three or more wilds on neighboring reels, from the left, to form combinations by themselves, in which case they pay the most out of the symbols that can do this. The wild symbols are collectable and you need four from a single reel in order to trigger a feature with them. You get the four wilds into small boxes, at the bottom of the reel from which you got it. Get the four boxes filled, and they will bring you an expanded wild on that reel, which will stay there for four spins. The Wolf’s Eye is the second symbol that you can rely on for some extra action. It’s going to be the scatter symbol, which the game can use to bring out a payout of $11,250 or lower. The name of these symbols comes from the fact that they may appear scattered on the reels, they don’t have to be in certain positions in order to be useful to you. By getting a minimum of three Wolf Eyes in view, you’re going to be offered 10 free spins. During each spin, you get stacked wild symbols which will grow by one each round, for all the reels. By the time you reach spin no.10, you can have excellent chances of forming multiple combinations out of these wilds.

Jackpot

The base game top rewards will come via the scattered Eye, which will pay at most $11,250, about 250 times the bet that was used. The wild’s combinations might pay only $750, but with the growing stacked wilds from the free spins you get great chances of getting that amount multiple times during the same round. An average RTP of only 95.50% makes this the least appealing slot machine from the series unfortunately. The others all pay at 96% or higher.

Conclusion

If you were forced to play one game from the Untamed series, I wouldn’t recommend that you make Wolf Pack that title. It’s the one that pays the least in the long run, and that’s the only reason why I think that there are better ones in the series. Otherwise, pretty much all of them have big shortcomings.
