About

NetEnt’s Jack and the Beanstalk slot is a game that was created based on an old fairytale, with origins from England. It’s been known since the 18th century at least, though the name was different back then. It’s not a theme that you’re going to find only at Net Ent, since a few other developers have also chosen it. However, I’ve found that the version we have here is my favorite, in terms of design at least, even though I’ve seen a number of them that are of excellent quality. In Jack and the Beanstalk slot, they ended up using a total of 20 lines, while the setup is a standard one, using 5 reels and 3 symbols for each one. You can land payouts of up to $5,000, but there are also multipliers that can improve them. There are scatter symbols, walking wilds and free spins with extra features.

Betting requirements

One of the decisions that you can make here will be in regards to the kind of coin that you will use in your bets. You can have coins of up to $0.50, and a maximum of 10 coins for each line. Since the game uses 20 lines each round, you can spend as little as $0.20, or as much as $100 per spin (200 coins).

Theme & Design

The fairytale that inspired Jack and the Beanstalk was first called this way in 1807, though the origins of the story can be traced to the 18th century. Over the course of the 19th century it was rewritten by different authors and included in their books. The hero of the story, Jack, is actually part of an entire series of tales. It’s the story of the boy that buys magic beans in exchange for the money he gets from selling a cow, and then a huge beanstalk grows from them, reaching the clouds and the land of giants. He steals from the giants, and eventually manages to kill the giant that’s coming after him. He ends up rich, thanks to all those treasures. The graphics are of the highest quality, which is to be expected in a title that is offered by Net Ent. We’re looking at the image of the beanstalk on the right side, of a rundown house on the left, and with the reels in the middle. The symbols which are appearing on the reels get images of poker cards made out of vines, along with goats, various tools that you might see around the house, ogres, Jack and treasure chests.

Special Features

Walking Wilds are not that common, and so they help make this particular slot machine a little bit more interesting. The image chosen for them is that of the slot’s logo, Jack and the Beanstalk. Whenever you have such a symbol in position anywhere on the reels, you’re going to get a re-spin triggered by it, during which the wild will move by one position, to the left. For as long as those wilds continue walking towards the left, you keep getting re-spins. Once the wild reaches the 1st reel and then moves off the screen, the re-spins will stop. It will continue to help out as a substitute during each re-spin, and whenever it can be part of a new combo it will give you a tripled win. It doesn’t substitute for Key or Scatter symbols, only for the regular ones. The Treasure Chest, which looks more interesting than the Walking Wild, is considered the scatter symbol of the game. You have these appear on any reel, and on any line, and with a minimum of three you can get 10 free spins to start. You can get an extra 5 rounds if you have another set of 3+ scatters along the way. Besides the fact that they’re free, the free spins do bring you some extra features as well, and they will be unlocked by landing Key symbols on the 5th reel. If you collect three keys, then you can get two stacked Money Bags. With six keys collected, you get a stacked wild with three symbols in it, the image being that of Golden Hens. Finally, if you get nine keys, you will be able to use expanding wilds, in the form of Golden Harps.

Jackpot

Jack is seen in the symbol that brings you the biggest rewards of the game, up to 1,000 times the line wager. For this game, it can be turned into up to $5,000 cash, or into 10,000 coins. There are ways to improve this number, using a multiplier from the wild, which will triple it, to $15,000. You get a game with a 96.30% average RTP, which is an OK number.

Conclusion

The Jack and the Beanstalk slot is one of the better titles to sport this theme, it has a good enough average RTP and some very cool features, and so I’d recommend the game to anyone that loves a good fairytale theme.
